Filial therapy is a unique approach that empowers parents to be active participants in their child’s healing process through structured play sessions. I guide parents through learning therapeutic play skills to strengthen the parent-child bond, enhance communication, and support emotional development. This evidence-based method not only benefits the child but also builds parental confidence and connection, making it especially effective for families navigating behavioral challenges, trauma, or relational strain.
Filial Therapy is a 6 week course, but I offer a "crash course" through 3-4 sessions. This can be virtually or in person, and I include on-the-spot examples in my Play Therapy room and walk you through any specific struggles you are experiencing with your child.
Trying to navigate a child's big feelings while regulating our own is a full time job. It's inevitable that kids trigger sensitive buttons or unhealed parts of ourselves. I'd love to help you with strategies on how co-regulate with your deeply feeling kiddo, as well as know your own triggers to watch out for, and remain emotionally connected to your child/adolescent/teen. The parent-child relationship is a dynamic that I feel passionate about, and I'd love to help you feel more confident in your role as a caregiver or parent.
Family dynamics can be complex, and I can help you navigate these challenges. I'll provide a supportive space where each each member can feel heard and understood. I work with families to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and foster deeper connections among family members. By addressing patterns that impact the family as a whole, this approach can foster deeper connection, healthier dynamics, and lasting change.
